Illustrated Guide to New Hall Water Mill

This revised illustrated guide to the mill contains a brief history of the mill, including the restoration. It is followed by some details about the outside of the building, the water supply and the waterwheel.

An updated description of the inside of the mill reflects the changes made at the Mill during recent years. This includes installing the aspirator and winnower and the reconstructed miller's workshop in the garner. Details of the mill stones and their dressing follows. A diagram showing how the mill worked and a glossary of milling ensure that visitors leave with a much better knowledge of the life of the millers at New Hall Mill. The guide ends with a poem written by a past miller and a map of the mill area.

A more comprehensive illustrated guide to the mill, with greater details of the history and an account of the machinery at the mill, has also been produced.
Copies of this guide may be purchased in the Exhibition Room on Open Days.
