Stationary Engines and Hobbies Day

Geoff and Stuart will be bringing
a selection of their many stationary engines and other interesting items. Originally used by farmers to drive various pieces of machinery, the engines have now become collector items. Each has been restored to an 'as-new' condition, many winning prizes at agricultural and other shows.

Also on display, with an emphasis on items from the Four Oaks Spraying Machine Company, originally based
in Belwell Lane, Mere Green, Adrian has a wide range of sprayers. Many
were for hand use but some larger models, such as the 25 gallon lime sprayer, were powered by a 4-stroke Villiers and cost £135 in 1959. Other types operated from a bucket or were carried by the operator as a knapsack.
