On the Open Day on 27th August 2007, we had our first visit by
"The Lace Guild". With the fine weather, they set their
gazebo up in the meadow and were soon attracting visitors to view
some of the delicate lace items that their members had made. The
left picture above shows a narrow lace ribbon being made, using
just 12 bobbins of thread, where visitors could try their hand at
lace making. This contrasted with one piece of lace about 4cm wide
being made using 60 bobbins and a 'forest' of pins. Not all the
items on display were made in the form of ribbons; the right picture
shows a little lace 'piggy', complete with curly tail.
