Open Days during 2010

The dates of the Open Days for 2010 are now available. A programme of Special Events and Guided Walks have now been arranged for the 2010 Open Days.

During the winter period, while the mill has been closed, some changes have been made in the mill meadow. Water from the car park spring is now piped into an enlarged pool at the top
of the meadow, the overflow finally reaching a new pool created by enlarging the previously narrow overflow stream.

During the Open Days of 2009, the Mill was visited by a record number of 4,645 visitors. This compares with 4,270 in 2008 and 3,710 in 2007. Some visitors, having visited the Mill on other Open Days, have discovered that the tea-room now makes a ideal location for afternoon tea and cakes!

Cereals at the Mill

During 2010 we shall be growing a range of cereals. In addition to the commonly grown wheat and barley, we shall be growing the less common oats, rye and triticale. This is a chance for visitors to learn how to identify the cereals they see growing in the countryside.
